Goals: 
  • Analyze and critique a range of literature using specific criteria (e.g., use of source material or medium, authenticity of time/place).
  • Analyze the impact of the author’s choices regarding how to develop and relate elements of a story or drama (e.g., where a story is set, how the action is ordered, how the characters are introduced and developed).

Announcements: 

  • Finish Handmaid's Tale. Mastery Speaking and Listening Discussion Next Tuesday!

  • ​For Mastery: Revisions to Q2 Essay and self reflection due by Friday.

2nd Hour
1. Business 
  • Discuss conversation and ideas for Mastery next week. 
  • Field Trip to Stratford in May?  
  • AP registration this month! 

2. Spotlight Sentence:  "If you can call it talking, these clipped whispers, projected through the funnels of our white wings.  It's more like a telegram, a verbal semaphore. Amputated speech." (201)
  • Write for 3 minutes on your first impressions, things you notice or find interesting. 
  • How would this sentence be different in a different order? 
  • Consider the connotations of the words. 
3. Present non-fiction texts in small groups
  • Select a non-fiction text to read--fill out comparison chart. 


5th Hour
