  • I can use acting techniques to make connections to the play and comprehend the first scene.

  • If you were absent on the Friday before Spring Break, please get the AP Multiple Choice Practice. See agenda from Friday for instructions. 
  • Homework for tomorrow:  Read Act 1 Scene 1 and answer questions in your notebook and write notes.  
    • ​Mark up the text with questions, comprehension notes, connections, etc.
    • Answer 2 of the 3 questions below in your notebook:
    • 1. Why do Iago, Roderigo and Brabantino hate the man they are discussing? 
      2. What reasons does Iago give for continuing to follow his master? 

      3. What kind of person do you expect the man they discuss to be?  How do you imagine him? Count the number of times the word "Moor" was used in 1.1.  Can you draw any conclusions?

      • What sort of language does Iago use to tell Brabantio of his daughter's elopement?  What sort of fears/prejudices is Iago playing on? 
    • ​Reading three--break up parts. 
      • ​How do the different reading affect your impression of the characters?
    • ​Reading four--act out the scene.

​1. Incongruity Game
  • Everyone stands in a circle. One person begins by doing an everyday activity, such as combing her hair. The person to her right asks, “What are you doing?” She then continues to comb her hair but says she is doing something completely different, such as giving her cat a bath. the person who asks must now spontaneously begin to pantomime giving a cat a bath.. Thenext person asks, “What are you doing?”  The game continues around the circle until everyone has had an opportunity to pantomime an activity. 
    • What was the most humorous moments?
    • Was it the ridiculousness of hearing and seeing two completely incongruous things?
    • Was it the honest and serious commitment of the students to the action?
    • Were situations that were more exaggerated or extravagant than real-life, everyday activities more comical?
