Goals: 
  • Analyze and critique a range of literature using specific criteria (e.g., use of source material or medium, authenticity of time/place).
  • Analyze the impact of the author’s choices regarding how to develop and relate elements of a story or drama (e.g., where a story is set, how the action is ordered, how the characters are introduced and developed).

Announcements: 

  • Sign up for Stratford Jobs!
  • Common Place Notes due on Friday 
  • Find all first attempt at the Q1 (poetry) on demand essay. Bring it tomorrow. 
  • Friday, Feb. 22nd is the LAST DAY to turn in late work/redos. 
  • Feedback on Synthesis papers (+=a strong point).  Redos by Saturday, Feb. 23rd

Love Poetry Tournament 
  • Determine the qualities for the "best" poem. 
  • With partners, at tables, combining tables read your poem to your group and argue for its qualities as "the best." 
  • Write a paragraph justifying why you think the tournament winner is the best poem in the class, or arguing why another poem was better.  Use the qualities we came up with in class.
