Goals:
  • I can explain how plot helps create meaning in my book and in a short story. 
  • I can read a text closely, tracking my thinking in a reading journal. 

Announcements: 
  • Read about 100 pages of your independent novel, tracking your thinking in your reading journal.  Ms. Feliks will assess reading journals this week. 
  • Write a mini-analysis of plot for "A Rose for Emily" or your independent novel.  Due Wednesday. 
  • For Friday, bring in one page a year-long project: Senior Portfolio. You need an artifact and a piece of writing.   

1.  Warm-up (2nd Block) Agree/Disagree "A Rose for Emily"
  • The author wants you to feel sorry for Emily. 
  • The theme of the story is that people should hold tight to traditions. 

2. AP Pre-Test  

3. RI pre-test 
  • Go to the media center site
  • Click on Reading Inventory 
  • Your username is your student ID
  • Password=Gmail password

4. Work on your mini-analysis--due tomorrow BEFORE class.
