Goals: 
  • I can analyze rhetorical devices to interpret texts from different perspectives and cultures (Close reading)
  • I can reflect on my learning and self-assess my progress.

  • Friday: Dependent Clause Quiz & 10 on 1 Analysis of a Blake poem. 


1. Grammar Practice:  All constructions: Make a group story. 


2. "The Lamb" and "The Tyger"

  • Analyze the poem/image
    • Writer's Notebook: does looking at the image enhance your reading of the poem?  How so? 
    • Share ideas with your table.  As a group, come up with a thesis that you could all agree on for this poem? 
    • Find one technique that you would discuss to support that thesis. 
    • Pairs, switch groups.  Teach your poem to your new group.  
      • What is similar with in the poems?  Be specific about technique, tone, lines, purpose? 
      • What is different?  Be specific! 
      • Taken together, what themes or ideas do you notice? 
      • How does (or does) your knowledge of Blake and his times enhance your understanding?
