Goals: 
  • Analyze and critique a range of literature using specific criteria (e.g., use of source material or medium, authenticity of time/place).
  • Analyze the impact of the author’s choices regarding how to develop and relate elements of a story or drama (e.g., where a story is set, how the action is ordered, how the characters are introduced and developed).

Announcements: 

  • Sign up for Stratford Jobs!
  • Final Draft for Synthesis due on Friday! 
  • Portfolio Page for January due Wednesday!
  • Bring a printed love poem for Poetry Tournament on Thursday and a paragraph argument about why this poem is a "good" contender.  
  • Friday, Feb. 22nd is the LAST DAY to turn in late work/redos.

1. Writing Prompt:  This is 45 (or 17 or 18)

2. What is synthesis?  
  • Transitions/at the end. 
  • In each paragraph.
    • How do the texts contradict, complicate, explain, add to or illuminate each other? 

3. Mini-Lesson: How to USE evidence in our papers. 
  • Find at least one piece of evidence in your paper and using the evidence questions, add commentary to the evidence.  Make a comment on the place where you did this today. 


4. Workshop time for essay revisions
