• We will read Handmaid's Tale after break.  If you would like to get ahead, check the book out from Book Depository today or tomorrow. ​
• Parent meeting about Stratford Trip on Wednesday, January 15th.  Trip will be on Friday, May 22nd
• If you were absent for our discussion on Tuesday, please contribute to our back-channel discussion & submit notes  with discussion questions/topics to Feliks. ​​

1. Literary 3 X 3

• Write three sentences of three words each that capture the essence of the novel.  s
  
  • Use abstract nouns
    
  • No proper nouns
    
  • No “to be” verbs
    
  • No articles or pronouns
    
  • No repeated words
    
  • No cliches.
• Write them on the board.  Vote for the most insightful one. 

2. Class Discussion 

• Today, you will evaluate your partner's participation.  Take notes on how many and the types of comments they make to offer them feedback. 
• After the discussion, share your notes with your partner.  Complete the self-evaluation for both discussions this week.
