  • I can analyze rhetorical devices to interpret texts from different perspectives and cultures (Close reading)

  • Friday: Dependent Clause Quiz & 10 on 1 Analysis of a Blake poem.

2. "The Chimney Sweeper" Songs of Innocence and Experience 
  • In your Writer's Notebook, take the image and analyze it. 
    • Describe it-what do you notice in the image? 
    • What mood or tone is set up in the image? What visual techniques are creating that mood? 
  • Analyze the poem
    • On your own:  Start by annotating it, reading closely and looking for techniques. 
    • Share ideas with your table.  As a group, come up with a thesis that you could all agree on. 
    • Find one technique that you would discuss to support that thesis. 
    • Pairs, switch groups.  Teach your poem to your new group.  
    • These two poems were published in a work together, so how to they relate?  What message do they give together?
