  • I can say at least 3 of my classmates' names. 
  • I can explain what I notice in how a poem is written and develop some logical theories for WHY it is written that way. 
  • I can "Use precise words and phrases, telling details, and sensory language to convey a vivid picture of the experiences, events, setting, and/or characters"

Announcements: 
  • We will visit the Library on Wednesday
  • Friday:  Blog Post #1 Due. 


1. Mini-Conversation with the person next to you:
  • Say your name, what school you went to last year and a fun fact about you..
  • I like...
  • I hate...
  • I once...​
Be prepared to introduce your partner to the class



​2. Writer's Notebook #1: Night Fishing
  • As I read the poem, mark one thing that you notice about the writing.  It could be a word, a phrase, the way the poem is punctuated, anything.  
  • Talk with  the person next to you (introduce yourself if you don't know each other).  What did each of you notice? 
  • Share out with the class. Add to your annotation in your Writer's Notebook. 
  • Write in Writer's Notebooks 
    • Leave the first "spread" blank
    • Writer's Notebook #1:  "Night Fishing"
    • Think of a moment that you want to capture like a snapshot.  Try to describe it, using a technique that you noticed in "Night Fishing" 
    • Share golden lines
