Goals:
  • I can say at least 3 of my classmates' names.
  • I can explain what I notice how a poem is written and develop some logical theories for WHY it is written that way.

1. Your name, what school you went to last year and a fun fact about you..
  • I like...
  • I hate...
  • I once...
  • I have never...

2. Writer's Notebook #1: Night Fishing
  • As I read the poem, mark one thing that you notice about the writing.  It could be a word, a phrase, the way the poem is punctuated, anything.
  • Talk with  the person next to you (introduce yourself if you don't know each other).  What did each of you notice?
  • Share out with the class.
  • Write in Writer's Notebooks
    • Leave the first "spread" blank
    • Writer's Notebook #1:  "Night Fishing"
    • Think of a moment that you want to capture like a snapshot.  Try to describe it, maybe using a technique that you noticed in "Night Fishing"
    • Share golden lines
