  • In your Writer's Notebook, at the back of the book, write your personal reading goals for this trimester.

  • As a group, write your own list poem​
    • Work together to produce a final draft and present it to the class. ​
    • Work hard to choose just the right words because the poem is composed of so few words.

1.  Group List Poem
  • As a group, select one of the emotions. 
    • Review the things that your classmates wrote.  Separate the ones you like to one side, and add things to the list that fit the themes or ideas that you see emerging.
    • Add some new ideas to the list. 
    • As a group, write your own list poem​
      • Decide on a plan, a rationale for the organization of the poem. 
      • Work hard to choose just the right words because the poem is composed of so few words. 
      • Work together to produce a final draft and present it to the class. ​

3. Writer's Notebook #2 (continued)

2. Library 
  • In the back of your Writer's Notebook, please have a page or pages for your "Read" list and your "To-Read" list.

  • Why we make lists?/Brainstorm types of lists
  • How we compose lists (i.e., by order of importance, chronologically, through linkage of ideas, etc.).
  • Step One:  Create a class list of “human emotions.” 
  • Step Two:  Vote on your top three of the emotions. 
  • Step Three: Add your own more specific ideas to the list of emotions using specific imagery and details of things that make you feel that emotion. 


5. Writer's Notebook #2:  "Fear"--Raymond Carver 
  • ​​What do you notice about how the poem is written?
  •  “What is the essence of the poem?”
