Goals: 
  • I can analyze the nuances of word/phrase meanings used in different contexts.
  • Student flexibly uses strategies to derive meaning from a variety of print/non-print texts. Student evaluates the validity, reliability, and/or relevance of publications and authors as well as their evidence and reasoning.  

Announcements:
  • Read your choice book to your reading goal by next Monday. ​
  • Graph of the Week Due on Friday 
  • Essay due today--make sure it is shared in Google Classroom. 
  • Saturday School:  8-11in the Commons with teachers to help you!  Also, breakfast. 
  • Join the Skyline bookclub!  We will be reading The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza by Shaun David Hutchinson.  The meeting is Tuesday, November 12th during both lunches in the main office conference room.

2. Mini-Lesson: Adding research to our papers
  • Step one:  Where?
    • Which points could be enhanced with outside research? 
    • Could we add ideas to our draft that could be supported by research? 
    • Do one together. 
  • Step Two:  Finding Research 
    • Looking for specific data instead of searching a broad term. 
    • Finding reputable sources--activity. 

3. Workshop 
  • Make a new copy of your paper. 
  • With a partner, look at your paper and determine where you could add research. 
  • Find 2-3 CREDIBLE sources of information.

Announcements:
  • Read your choice book to your reading goal by next Monday. ​
  • Graph of the Week Due on Friday
