Goals:
  • I can say all of my classmates' names.
  • I can explain what I notice how a poem is written and develop some logical theories for WHY it is written that way.
  • I can collaborate with a group to create a list poem.

1. Alliterative Introductions
  • My name is Ms. Feliks and I like my friends.

2. Writer's Notebook #2:
"Fear"--Raymond Carver
  • What do you notice about how the poem is written?
  •  “What is the essence of the poem?”

3. List Poems
  •  Add your own more specific ideas to the list of emotions with sticky notes.
  • As a group, select one of the emotions.
    • Review the things that your classmates wrote.  Separate the ones you like to one side, and add things to the list that fit the themes or ideas that you see emerging.
    • Add some new ideas to the list.
  • Write your own list poem
    • Decide on a plan, a rationale for the organization of the poem.
    • Work hard to choose just the right words because the poem is composed of so few words.
    • Write, revise and present
